About Mauna Kea Galleries
Passionate about Polynesian art and culture, collector Mark Blackburn specializes in the appraisal of tribal art from throughout the South Pacific. Mark Blackburn began collecting as a young child. After reading of Captain Cook’s voyages, Mark Blackburn began a lifelong love affair with the art and culture of Polynesia. Over the course of his career, Mr. Blackburn became known as an authority on South Pacific tribal art and worked for a number of esteemed museums and individuals. Today, Mark Blackburn channels his love of Hawaiiana into Mauna Kea Galleries, a company with a comprehensive collection of artifacts from Tonga, Easter Island, Tahiti, Samoa, the Cook Islands, Marquesas, Fiji, New Zealand, and of course, Hawaii.
For the past 14 years, Mauna Kea Galleries has gained international attention for its large inventory of authentic Polynesian items. From vintage posters to Aloha shirts to ukuleles, Mauna Kea Galleries has items that appeal to a broad range of admirers at every level of collecting.
