L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc.’s Vice President of Operations, Matthew Michalek, started his education by studying building construction at the College of Technology at Johnson College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He eventually earned his Associate’s degree from Johnson College, although Mr. Michalek also took courses in real estate law and practice at the Northeast Institute of Education. Later, after nearly a decade as a carpenter and project supervisor, Matthew Michalek also attended Keystone College in La Plume, Pennsylvania, to enroll in engineering courses.
    
In 1985 Matthew Michalek accepted a position at Quality Homes in Scranton as a Lead Carpenter. There, he performed coordination and layout on various commercial and residential projects. The following year, he became a Carpenter Foreman with a union, Carpenters’ Local No. 261. Over the next four years, Matthew Michalek supervised many construction projects for contractors in the Scranton area and greater Pocono region. In 1990, he accepted the post of Supervisor with L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc., and has worked for the firm ever since. Over the initial five years, he worked on-site and directed personnel and subcontractors on industrial and commercial projects. The firm promoted Matthew Michalek to Project Manager in 1995 and Senior Project Manager in 1998. In these capacities, he both demonstrated and increased his engineering and construction knowledge while directing teams to the completion of many jobs on budget and on time. During this period, Matthew Michalek developed relationships with engineering and consulting firms that aided him in his future executive functions.

The owners of L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc. made Matthew Michalek the company’s Vice President of Operations in 2000. He has performed this job with distinction ever since, directing the activities of the entire L.R. Costanzo Co., Inc. staff on multimillion-dollar projects. An example of such a job was Scranton Preparatory School that contracted the company to renovate its main lobby, second floor, third floor, chapel, and public restrooms in a series of projects. They also handled the project “Arts & Sciences Addition” for the school. Matthew Michalek also co-owns a land development firm, B & M Property Development LLC, based in Dunmore.
