Matthew Knouff, Esq. currently serves as General Counsel and eDiscovery Counsel for Complete Discovery Source, Inc., a global, full-service provider of electronic discovery and data management technologies and services, which is headquartered in New York City. Knouff advises AM LAW 100 firms and Fortune 500 companies on domestic and international eDiscovery best practices and how to leverage technology and defensible strategies to successfully complete large document reviews. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and Communication Studies from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), Matthew Knouff enrolled at the UNC School of Law. During the pursuit of his Juris Doctor, Knouff focused on intellectual property and cyberspace law and also developed expertise in entertainment law as founder of an internationally distributed record label and production company. In 2007, Matthew Knouff became Vice President of Creative Development and General Counsel at Play Music Group. Matthew Knouff maintained his own legal practice for more than five years. During this time, Knouff focused his expertise on cyberspace law, the legal aspects of social media, intellectual property, and drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreements and contracts. Having spent 10 years organizing national tours and running an internationally distributed label, Matthew Knouff drew on his intimate knowledge of the music industry while offering entertainers, entrepreneurs, and capital investors expert advice in the areas of copyright law and trademark law. Knouff has represented a highly diverse clientele, including songwriters, producers, and publishing companies. Over the past several years, Knouff has focused his broad experience on eDiscovery issues, often serving as an expert panelist discussing the impact that electronically stored information (ESI) has had on both domestic and international legal systems, the challenges ESI poses for attorneys and their client, trends in litigation, cloud computing, social media, and cyberspace law. Matthew Knouff enjoys a broad range of activities, including playing classical guitar, skiing, snowboarding and traveling. Knouff devotes considerable effort to community service. In 2006, Knouff received the “I’m About Service” award from the City Bar Justice Center’s Public Service Network, for volunteering at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office for several months. The City Bar Justice Center’s mission is to improve access to justice for all New Yorkers.
