About MasterShield
Water can cause thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to your home—and you don’t have to live in a flood plain. MasterShield Gutter Protection offers customers gutter guards that really protect their houses from rainwater mismangement, which can result in tens of thousands of dollars in damage if left unchecked. Using a patented, water-permeable, micro-mesh stainless steel called MicroVortex, MasterShield gutter guards pitch with the roof of your home and separate rain from debris no bigger than 50 microns—half the width of a human hair—through its solid-looking filter. Through its patented HydroVortex technology, MasterShield Gutter Protection systems create a water vacuum that uses more than just the forces of gravity to siphon rainwater through the filter and into while it keeps debris out. (To see a performance video of the MicroVortex cloth, click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDY_3u7BMxc). Conventional gutter guards lure insects and birds to nest in them, providing either a dry environment under the guard or a pool of water nestled in debris perfect for breeding. Since the MasterShield gutter protection system is completely enclosed, however, critters do not have a dry place to nest and naturally stay away. MasterShield’s dual I-beam construction handles heavy loads (like snow or the occasional fallen branch), and the system’s drip edge keeps the front of the gutters clean.
In 1999, Alex Higginbotham was asked to use his inventing skills to create a new way to keep leaves and debris from clogging a gutter. In 2001, he submitted his first patent for a gutter guard that used a filter that contained more than 18 threads per inch, something previously considered impossible in a gutter guard. In 2003 and 2004, his first commercial success was listed in Building Products magazine’s annual Top 100 list. Over the years Mr. Higginbotham has refined his technology and conducted exhaustive research that has led to the current MasterShield Gutter Protection system. Although others have used his some of his patented technology in their designs, no one can match his knowledge or expertise that lead to the special stainless steel microfilter employed by MasterShield.
These gutter guards come with a 20-year paint warranty against peeling, fading, or cracking. In addition, MasterShield offers a comprehensive product warranty. Independently owned and operated dealers offer installation warranties of their own, including the first Birds & Bees Nest Guarantee in the industry; many dealers match parts of the manufacturer warranty as well.
MasterShield has been lauded and recognized on websites such as bestcovery.com, where it received a stellar review as “probably the leading gutter guard manufacturer in the business.” On askthebuilder.com, MasterShield appeared in an independent test of gutter guard protection systems and won the vote as the best system from the nationally syndicated newspaper columnist, Tim Carter. Higginbotham technology has also been rated best in field by a leading consumer testing magazine.
