About Marlon Harewood


Marlon Harewood, an English striker, was born on August 25, 1979 at Hampstead, London. He started his football career at Nottingham Forest F.C. in 1996. Known as “Alf” in Nottingham Forest, he has made 23 cup appearances and played 124 league games scoring 51 goals. He was loaned out to Haka F.C., of the Veikkausliiga, the premier division of Finnish football, in 1998 to gain some experience. Later that year, Marlon Harewood contributed to the winning of the Finnish Championship and the Finnish Cup. He made his league debut for the City Ground outfit in 1998.


In 1999, he was sent on a loan to Ipswich Town F.C., scoring one goal in six appearances. Marlon Harewood partnered with David Johnson, the former striker of Nottingham Forest, and netted 21 goals and contributed for pushing the Nottingham Forest to the 2002-03 playoffs. Football fans of West Ham turned to Marlon Harewood captured the attention of West Ham fans when he scored for Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup held at Upton Park in January 2003 and collected the runners-up medal.


Marlon Harewood was the top goal scorer at the Premiership with 14 goals, in 2002-03 season. He joined West Ham in November 2003 and finished as the top scorer in 2004-05 with 23 goals in all tournaments he took part. In 2005-06, Marlon Harewood scored his first top-flight hatrick of the season in a 4-0 victory against Aston Villa, amounting to 14 league goals. He became one of the prominent strikers for the season as he went on to score the winning goal at the FA Cup Semi-finals against Middlesbrough.


In July 2007, he joined Aston Villa for a whopping £4 million and signed a three year deal. It was a moment of unbound joy for Marlon Harewood at the Ewood Park on 28th November 2007 as he went on to score his 100th career league goal against Blackburn Rovers in a 4-0 win.
