Magellan Development - Products and Services: Magellan Development Group, LLC, serves the greater Chicago area through the development of elite mixed-use, residential and world-class commercial properties. One of the company’s most distinguished projects, still underway, is known as the Lakeshore East master plan. Stretching across 28 acres of downtown Chicago, the facility comprises a multipurpose center featuring lavish condominiums, spacious apartments, and 25 high-end townhomes, referred to formally as Benton Place Parkhomes. The Village Market Center provides a variety of shops, eateries, and services to area residents including Mariano’s Fresh Market, III Forks Steakhouse, Black Coffee Gallery, Maison Brasserie Moderne, Eggy's Breakfast Cafe, and Cuticle Nail Salon. Additional components of the Lakeshore East master plan involve CHALK Preschool and an elementary school not yet built. Arguably the most prominent feature of the Magellan Development Group’s project is Aqua, a downtown Chicago skyscraper standing 87 stories high and comprised of office spaces and other commercial leases. The lead architect, Jeanne Gang of Studio/Gang Architects, conceptualized the extraordinary architectural display of the building, which represents one of the tallest skyscrapers worldwide designed by a woman.
Inside Aqua lies the nation’s first exemplar of the Radisson Blu, an international hotel chain that features top-notch rooms and accommodations, and at Aqua consists of 334 luxury rooms. The FIABCI honored Magellan Development Group with the Prix d’Excellence Award in 2011 for its innovative and elite architectural efforts, as showcased especially in the development of Aqua. To date, the Lakeshore East master plan, which also features a beautifully landscaped six-acre park, has advanced halfway through its overall construction. As progress continues toward the completion of Lakeshore East, the Magellan Development Group will continue to cultivate a sense of community within its award-winning megastructure.
