About Lynette Holloway
Academic History
Lynette Holloway's academic career began in St. Paul, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Minor in Journalism. Her dual concentration resulted in the beginning of what would become an ongoing development of a conscientious and informed reporting style that has propelled Ms. Holloway into a nationally published author and journalist.
Early Career
Through her role as editor of the campus newspaper (The Mac Weekly), Lynette Holloway fine tuned her talent for developing investigative stories and writing compelling human interest features. Lynette eventually transferred her unique vision into her work with the New York Times. Lynette wrote for the prestigious publication for 11 years and, during that time, was involved in such award-winning and well-known projects as the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Portraits of Grief": a collection of in-depth and emotional profiles of individuals who perished on September 11th. For her work with the New York Times, Lynette Holloway was awarded the New York Times Publisher's Award in honor of her team's coverage of stories in the City Section, and for coverage of national education issues.
Ebony Magazine
In 2004, Lynette Holloway began work at Ebony Magazine, serving as an Associate Editor. Lynette's responsibilities at Ebony included editing and writing the book review and fitness columns for the national publication with a circulation of 1.4 million. During Ms. Lynette Holloway's four years with Ebony, she produced a number of highly regarded and frequently talked about features, including an investigative look into the decidedly dramatic drop in the number of African-American roles on television today, compared to even a decade ago.
Recent Publications
Today, Lynette Holloway is an entertainment writer, contributing to national celebrity weeklies such as People Magazine. Most recently, she contributed to People's cover story on the tragic triple murder of Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.
