Lukasz Fabianski, born on April 18, 1985 in Kostrzyn nad Odr?, Poland, is a footballer who plays in the English Premier League and is currently the goalkeeper for Arsenal.


Lukasz Fabianski represented Poland consistently at the under-21 level, and his remarkable performances for Legia Warszawa soon paved way for him to make his international debut at the senior level against Saudi Arabia on March 29, 2006. Lukasz Fabianski was also part of the Polish squad as a reserve goalkeeper in the 2006 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup and Euro 2008.


Lukasz Fabianski began his football career in 1999, when he started playing for the club Polonia S?ubice. At 14, he joined MSP Szamotu?y, a well-known independent football academy, where he improved his football skills. Then, he spent a brief stint with three other clubs, namely, Lubuszanin Drezdenko, Sparta Brodnica, and Mieszko Gniezno. Later, Lukasz Fabianski was signed by Lech Poznan for the 2004-05 season, which marked his entry into senior clubs. Very soon he was signed by Legia Warszawa as a goalkeeper and was instrumental in Legia winning the Polish League Championship in the 2005-06 season. His performances in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, earned him the Football Oscar for the best goalkeeper in the Polish Ekstraklasa.


After a two-year spell with Legia, Lukasz Fabianski signed a long-term contract with Arsenal on May 26, 2007. He made his debut for Arsenal on July 14, 2007 in a pre-season friendly match against Barnet FC. Arsenal won the match. His efficient goalkeeping soon made him Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper during the 2007-08 Carling Cup campaign. Lukasz Fabianski made his first competitive debut for Arsenal on September 25, 2007 against Newcastle United in the third round of the Carling Cup, It was Arsenal's first match in the competition and Lukasz Fabianski helped his club win the match 2-0. On October31, 2007, in the match against Sheffield United F.C., Lukasz Fabianski captained Arsenal in what was his second competitive match, and played a crucial role in its 3-0 victory.


Lukasz Fabianski made his Premier League debut on April 28, 2008 in an away match against Derby County, and in spite of yielding two goals, Arsenal won the match comfortably. He was praised by Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger for his outstanding performance. After the departure of Jens Lehmann, the German football goalkeeper, at the end of the 2007-08 season, Lukasz Fabianski became Arsenal's second-choice goalkeeper, behind Manuel Almunia.
His secure way of handling, assured decision-making and ability to remain calm under pressure has brought him a long way through his career.


Lukasz Fabianski aspires to become a regular first-team player. In his leisure time, he enjoys Karaoke and picks “Perfect” by Fairground Attraction as his personal favorite.
