Luis de Abreu Anderson, also known as Anderson, is a professional football player born on April 13, 1988 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
In April 2005, Luis de Abreu Anderson got an opportunity to play for Brazil in the South American U-17 Championship. Later in October, he was a member of the squad that won the Adidas Golden Ball at the 2005 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) U-17 World Cup. In the same tournament he was also adjudged as the Best Player of Tournament. On June 27, 2007, this mid-fielder won his first international cap for the senior side in a Copa América encounter with Mexico, where he came in as a substitute. Luis de Abreu Anderson made his first start for the national side in their 3-0 victory against Chile on July 1, 2007. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he was a member of the team that won the bronze medal. Since 2007, he has won a total of eight international caps for his national side.
Luis de Abreu Anderson spent the early days of his career as a youth player at the Grêmio Football Club. In 2005, he escalated to the senior side and was a part of the team in the Gaúcho State Championship. In the latter half of the year, he made his first appearance for the club by playing five Brazilian Série B games. Luis de Abreu Anderson made a name for himself by scoring against Nautico, as it was not only a winning goal but also a goal that helped his team to get promoted to the Serie A level.
Luis de Abreu Anderson moved to the Porto F.C. in December 2005 and made his league debut on March 5, 2006, which helped his team win the Portuguese Championship of the season. During the same season, he was also a member of the team that won the Taça de Portugal and the Portuguese SuperCup. In the following season, he made his Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League debut in Porto's first group game against Central Sports Army Club (CSKA) Moscow.
On July 2, 2007, Luis de Abreu Anderson signed a five year contract with Manchester United for an undisclosed fee. He made his first appearance for this club in their pre-season friendly game against Doncaster Rovers, which they won 2-0. He made his competitive debut for the side in their playoff against Sunderland on September 1, 2007.
Luis de Abreu Anderson made his first appearance in the Champions League for Manchester United in a match against Sporting Clube de Portugal on September 19, 2007, where he came in as a substitute. On October 6, 2007, in their home game against Wigan, Luis de Abreu Anderson came in as a substitute and put up a performance that helped his team win 4-0. This victory was one of the club’s biggest win of the season, and he was instrumental throughout the game for this victory. During 2007-08 season, Luis de Abreu Anderson was a part of the side that emerged victorious with the Barclays Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the FA Community Shield of the 2007-08 season.
