About Liz Lieu
Liz Lieu, also known as ‘Poker Diva’ is originally from Vietnam. Her family came to the United States when she was still a baby. The family took up residence in Colorado where her parents worked hard to give their children a good standard of living.
Competitive by nature, Liz Lieu is a natural when it comes to poker, a game she was introduced to when she was all of 13. Liz lieu may have played poker for a while now, but professional poker is what she took up four years ago. At first, she kept to playing cash games but switched to tournaments when her interest got the better of her. Good looking and ruthless, the experienced poker player will never lower his guard when at the felt with this Poker Diva.
Her impressive wins to date include the Event #2 of the 36th Annual World Series of Poker, held on June 3, 2005, where Liz Lieu played in the No Limit Hold'em category and finished an impressive 5th place. The prize money she took home was a handsome and well earned sum of $168,590. There was more distinction lined up for her when she played in Event #12 of the L.A Poker Classic / WPT Event Season 5, in the No Limit Hold'em category, held in February 5, 2007. Here, she emerged triumphant, bagging 1st place and mopping up $148,370 in prize money
Her other good performances include Event #16 of the LA Poker Classic / WPT Event, Season 4, Limit Hold'em, held in February 3, 2006, where Liz Lieu came out on top finishing first and walked away with $66,348 in the form of prize money. Another good performance that merits mention is the World Poker Finals / WPT Event, Season 4, held in November 10, 2005, where Liz Lieu playing in the No Limit Hold'em category, came 5th and won $53,500 as prize money
Liz lieu has fared well in cash games at Los Angeles and Las Vegas, augmenting her bankroll. Although she’s had many deep runs and in-the-money finishes, there’s more to Liz Lieu’s life that just poker. In 2005, she embarked on a journey of another kind – from the world of materialism to altruism, working with non-profit organizations around the world and pledging 20 percent of her poker earnings to charitable causes. Her father’s death in August 2007 put her out of action for a while. But she soon returned to the poker scene raking in the green, and only recently at the 39th World Series of Poker in Event #13, held on June 7, 2008, playing in the No Limit Hold'em category, Liz Lieu placed 28th and won $14,137 as prize money
