Linvoy Primus is a professional football player, born on September 14, 1973 in Forest Gate, England. Known as “Primeape” in the football world, he began his football career in 1992 as a defender for Charlton Athletic football club and made a total of 4 appearances for the club during his tenure. During the 1994-95 season, he moved to Barnet on a free transfer and during his stint at the club, he established himself as a strong defender and appeared in 127 games, scoring 7 goals.
Linvoy Primus moved to Reading football club for £250,000 during the 1997-98 season. This defender scored once in the 94 games he played for the club during his tenure of three years. In 2000, Linvoy Primus signed with the Portsmouth and during the 2002-03 season, he played a pivotal role for the team by being a part of the side that won the First Division title. Due to his impressive performance in the club, Linvoy Primus won the Portsmouth fans' Player of the Season title and also the Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA) accolade for Division One in the same season. He scored his first Premier League goal for this club at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day 2004. A couple of years later, he headed 2 goals on the Boxing Day in 2006 in the game against West Ham United.
During the 2004-05 season, Linvoy Primus was a regular member of the side and captained the team on occasions during the pre-season. He continued his good form in the following season and was remained as an integral part of the squad. In May 2008, he extended his tenure at this club by signing a new one year deal. As of 2008, he has made a total of 197 appearances for Portsmouth, making 5 goals. In August 2008, he signed a loan deal with Charlton Athletic.
Linvoy Primus believes in Christianity and is an active member of the Christian Charity Faith & Football, and in 2005, he walked the Great Wall of China for charity. He supports the Alpha Course, a course based on Christian faith, and has appeared in a commercial to promote the movement. In 2007, Linvoy Primus released his autobiography titled “Transformed”.
