During its more than three-decade history, the Linda Jamieson School of Dance has elevated dance education in Ottawa and produced a notable number of champions, teachers, and artists with successful careers in dance. Former students of the Linda Jamieson School of Dance have performed with world renowned companies such as Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet and The National Ballet of Canada. They have appeared in Broadway productions such as Hello Dolly, Cats, Crazy for You, Lost in Yonkers, and Kiss Me Kate. Graduates have also danced at the Spring Pops and Christmas Concerts of the National Arts Centre Orchestra and secured employment as performers for Caribbean Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Celebrity Cruises, Inc. after their time at the Linda Jamieson School of Dance.
The Linda Jamieson School of Dance offers comprehensive training to young dancers between the ages of 3 and 19 at its studios in Kanata Town Centre. The programs offered include classes in Ballet, Jazz, Jazz Technique, Tap, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Contemporary dance, as well as Creative Movement for preschool children. The Linda Jamieson School of Dance offers Pre School, Recreational and Pre Proessional classes during the regular dance season as well as in the summer programs. It offers, in addition to its instructional programs, opportunities to dance in its annual production of The Nutcracker Christmas Ballet, membership on its competition team, and participation in the annual year-end recital.
At the Linda Jamieson School of Dance, students receive guidance as well as instruction from Director and Choreographer Linda Jamieson and her team of accredited teaching professionals. Students are also given opportunities to study with esteemed guest artists who have performed around the world. Current guest artists include a member of the Paris Opera Ballet Company, a Principal Dancer for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, and Broadway dancers and choreographers.
