Liam Miller is an international footballer, who was born on February 13, 1981 in Cork, Republic of Ireland. He made regular appearances for the Ireland Under-21 side, and then he debuted for the senior national team on March 31, 2004 in the 2-1 win over the Czech Republic. He scored his first international goal against Sweden on March 1, 2006, when he netted the ball from 25 yards.


Liam Miller began his career with Celtic as a youngster in 1997, and he made his League debut against Dundee United on May 21, 2000. On August 24, 2000, he played his first Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup match in the club’s 7-0 victory against the Danish football club Jeunesse Esch. In 2001, Liam Miller was loaned out for six months to AGF Aarhus, for which he played 18 games during that period before returning to Celtic. He scored his first Scottish Premier League goal on October 18, 2003 against Heart of Midlothian that Celtic won by 5-0. He ended his tenure with Celtic in 2004 after playing 26 games and scoring two goals.


In January 2004, Liam Miller signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United and, he joined the Red Devils on July 1, 2004 on a free transfer. He scored his first goal for the club against Crewe Alexandra in a Carling Cup match on October 26, 2004. In his debut season for the club, he made 22 first-team appearances. On November 4, 2005 Liam Miller was loaned out to Leeds United on a three-month deal, which was later extended to the end of the 2005-06 season. His first goal for Leeds was the winning goal in the 4-3 victory over Southampton on November 19, 2005, which helped the club reach the Championship play-off final. During his loan period with Leeds, he played 28 games and scored one goal.


On August 31, 2006, Liam Miller joined Sunderland on a three-year deal and played his first game in Sunderland’s shirt on September 9, 2006 in its 2-1 win over Derby County. Four days later, he scored his first goal for Sunderland against his former club, Leeds United. His maiden goal for the club in the Premiership came in a game against Middlesbrough on September 22, 2007, when he scored a 20-yard left footer in the 89th minute.
