Lewis Montrose, born on November 17, 1988 in Manchester, England, is a Scottish footballer who can play in the both central defense and central midfield position. He started his football career at Bolton Wanderers and moved to Wigan Athletic on July 1, 2006 on a scholarship, and since then, he wears the number 29 shirt. He played regularly for the Wigan Athletic’s reserve team and made his debut as a substitute for the club in a match against Crewe Alexandra at the League Cup 2006.
On March 27, 2008, Lewis Montrose was loaned out to Rochdale, a League Two promotion-chasing team, for a season-long deal. Steve Bruce, the manager of Wigan Athletic, believed that the loan deal with Rochdale would help Lewis Montrose to gain some experience by playing for the first-team, and it would be a good learning for him. Later, the loan deal was cut short as Wigan Athletic needed his service, and on August 26, 2008, Lewis Montrose made his full competitive debut for Wigan Athletic in the 4–0 win over Notts County in the second round Carling Cup. The win saw Wigan Athletic to move to the third round of the competition at the expense of Notts County.
