About Lewis Buxton


Lewis Buxton is a professional football defender who was born on December 10, 1983 in Newport, England. Initially, he was a part of the Portsmouth youth ranks, and he debuted for the club’s senior side at the beginning of the 2001-02 season in the 1-0 win over Stockport County. He soon established himself as a regular first-team player and appeared in 24 matches for the club during the 2001-02 season. For the month of October 2002, Lewis Buxton was loaned out to Exeter City, and he played four matches for the club. He returned to Portsmouth at the end of the deal and in January 2003, he was loaned to the AFC Bournemouth for the rest of the 2002-03 season. He made 18 appearances for the AFC Bournemouth and helped it to get promoted to play in the English League One.


He continued the following season with the AFC Bournemouth and played 28 games for the club. In the 2004-05 season, Lewis Buxton was offered several loan offers, but he turned them down and joined the Football League Championship club Stoke City in January 2005. He scored his career’s first senior goal for Stoke City against Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2005. Lewis Buxton made first start of the 2006-07 season in a match which Stoke City won 1-0 against Ipswich Town . In the 2007-08 season, after recovering from an injury, he made his comeback as a 33rd minute substitute on August 18, 2007 in the 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic. Lewis Buxton won the Man of the Match award in the 2008-09 season following his impressive performance against the Queen Park Rangers team.
