Autobiography:

I am an author and educational specialist, possessing nearly 40 years of experience in the field of education. In the course of my varied and extensive career, I have served as a teacher, superintendent, and principal. In all of my roles, I have strived to maintain ambitious goals for enhancing classrooms and advancing the academic experience of students. Additionally, I have consistently sought out financial solvency, teacher quality, and community and parent involvement in both my roles as a school administrator and instructor. Most recently, I operated as the Superintendent of Schools with the Penn-Delco School District in Aston, Pennsylvania. Remaining in this position for a decade, I oversaw the technology, finance, legal, transportation, human resources, and facilities departments for the district. In this multifaceted position, I reported directly to the Board of School Directors, ensuring the district was in full observance of state and federal policies. In the past, I operated as the President of the Women’s Caucus of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and an Executive Board member of the Standard & Poor’s School Evaluation Services. I participated on the Board for the Middle States Accreditation for Growth’s Commission on Secondary Schools and sat on the National Advisory Board during the 2001 First International Conference on Learning and Technology. In addition to the many community leadership roles that I have assumed throughout my career, I have published numerous articles on the importance of integrating technology into the classroom. Moreover, I co-authored the book An Introduction to the Using Portfolios in the Classroom with Charlotte Danielson. In 1971, I received a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in Elementary Education. I continued at Temple University to earn a Master’s degree in Special Education. Before returning to Temple University to receive a Doctorate, I acquired my Teaching and School Administration certifications from the University of Pennsylvania and Arcadia University. I earned my Doctor of Education from Temple University in 1995, writing my dissertation on parental involvement and teacher newsletters.
