Leo Surprenant - Professional Summary:
A dedicated follower of trance music, Leo Surprenant deejays under the name “Leo J” and consistently searches for new and compelling pieces. Among Leo Surprenant’s all-time favorite artists are Armin van Buuren, DJ Tiesto, and Infected Mushroom. Armin van Buuren began composing an innovative brand of trance music before his 15th birthday and soon brought his talents for deejaying to clubs in his locale of Leiden, the Netherlands.
Today, he stands as one of the most popular talents in trance music and topped DJ Magazine’s list of Top 100 DJs from 2007 to 2010. The host of the widely acclaimed radio show A State of Trance, he frequently produces full-length albums, among them 76, Imagine, Shivers, and Mirage.
Leo J. Surprenant also passionately follows the career of DJ Tiesto, also a native of the Netherlands. DJ Tiesto holds worldwide recognition and showcased his ingenuity at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games; he also received a Grammy Award nomination for his album Elements of Life in 2008. DJ Tiesto heads his own recording venture, Black Hole Recordings, and his discography includes the titles In My Memory, Parade of the Athletes, Kaleidoscope, and Just Be. Influenced by a number of talents, Surprenant also bears appreciation for Infected Mushroom, a dynamic duo hailing from Israel. Musicians Erez Aizen and Amit Duvdevani draw on a number of genres, citing inspiration from metal group Metallica and new age group Depeche Mode. Through studying the works of a host of diverse artists, Leo “Leo J” Surprenant effectively broadens his abilities as a deejay.
