A medical professional with decades of experience in internal medicine and aesthetic treatments, Leon Turovsky, MD, currently serves as the owner of Sheepshead Bay Laser Center of Brooklyn, New York. Having performed upwards of 60,000 cosmetic procedures during his career, Dr. Turovsky maintains recognition as one of the New York metro area’s leading laser care specialists. Outside of the office, Leon Turovsky, MD, participates actively in his community and supports the needs of the less fortunate.
Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1979, Leon Turovsky, MD, spent many years training and working in the Soviet Union. Dr. Turovsky held several posts in the area of Uzbekistan prior to the nation’s split from the USSR. He helped found one of the region’s first coronary care units and he worked as a physician for a hospital run by the USSR’s Ministry of Health. Upon moving to the United States, Leon G. Turovsky, MD, settled in New York City, where he performed his residency and founded his first practice, a Brooklyn-based clinic. Dr. Turovsky specialized in internal medicine up until the late 1990s, at which point he refocused his career on providing quality aesthetic and cosmetic laser care. His current four-person practice offers a range of noninvasive procedures designed to rejuvenate skin and reduce wrinkles; permanently remove hair; treat rosacea, acne, and other skin blemishes; and produce a variety of other age-defying effects.
When not engaged in his demanding career, Leon G. Turovsky, MD, donates generously to several local and national nonprofits, among them the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc.; Neshama; Concerned Women for America; and the Anti-Defamation League. In addition, Dr. Turovsky has published public service educational articles for Russian immigrants who speak little English. A professionally trained classical violinist, he enjoys teaching his grandchildren about the power of music and playing the violin and piano for them.
