Lavinia Stan is an Associate Professor at St. Francis Xavier University in Canada, where she also serves as Director of the Center for Post-Communist Studies. Her main research interests revolve around democratization, broadly conceives. More precisely, she has published extensively on religion and politics, and transitional justice. She is the author of Leaders and Laggards (Columbia University Press, 2003), co-author of Religion and Politics in Post-Communist Romania (Oxford University Press, 2007) and Church, State and Democracy in the Enlarged Europe (Oxford University Press, forthcoming), editor of Romania in Transition (Dartmouth, 1997), and co-editor of The Encyclopedia of Transitional Justice (Cambridge University Press, forthcoming). Her articles have been published in refereed scholarly journals in the United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, Romania, and Moldova. She has delived presentations at conferences, workshops and seminars in Canada, the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, Poland, Malta, Belgium, Cyprus, and Romania.
