About Larry Roman
Lawrence Roman first entered the construction and plumbing business 30 years ago. Since then, Lawrence Roman has formed, sold, and merged companies to create a successful enterprise with a history of notable projects. Chairman and CEO of WDF Inc., a GreenStar Company, Lawrence Roman has offices in both New York and Florida. Lawrence Roman took control of his father’s company, R&C Corporation. Lawrence Roman extended R&C’s offerings to include subcontracting services for pollution control in addition to primary contracting for public works. By 1988, Lawrence Roman had sold R&C to Jamaica Water (JWP), but he later rescued the company by purchasing it back when JWP filed for bankruptcy. In 1995, Lawrence Roman bought R&C for 10% of the 1988 price. Under Lawrence Roman’s management and supervision, R&C experienced a dramatic turnaround, with increased revenues and cash flow. In 2000, Lawrence Roman again sold R&C Corporation to Keyspan Energy (now National Grid). Lawrence Roman then purchased Nagelbush Mechanical, channeling his efforts into the company until 2005, when he bought his family’s plumbing business back from Keyspan. Next, Lawrence Roman merged R&C (renamed WDF Inc.) and Nagelbush with Five Star Electric, a well-regarded leader of electrical installations in New York City, to establish GreenStar Services, a billion-dollar full service plumbing, HVAC, and electrical firm. Lawrence Roman is a businessman and negotiator who tries to learn from businessmen like Donald Trump. An active member of the New York Building Congress and former President of the Subcontractors Trade Association, Lawrence Roman has successfully bid on construction projects like the Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center), Time Warner Center, 15 Central Park West and the Croton Water Filtration Plant. Lawrence Roman has also been a recipient of the Subcontractor of the Year Award and the Silver Shovel Award. A member of the Mt. Vernon community in New York, Lawrence Roman participates in organizations dedicated to the research of Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis. Lawrence Roman also regularly donates to the Boy Scouts of America and Hofstra University. In his free time, Lawrence Roman pursues hobbies that include collecting vintage Bordeaux wines, owning thoroughbred horses, and watching the New York Yankees.
