Dr. Larry Fishman graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts and the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara with his Doctor of Medicine. By 1980, Dr. Fishman had completed a Fifth Pathway program at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Fishman later studied neurological surgery in Rochester, Minnesota, with the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education. He took on his residency in neurological surgery with the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, also known as the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Fishman completed another residency in neurological surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. After completing his residencies, Dr. Larry Fishman worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. In 1988, Dr. Fishman accepted a position with Orlando Neurosurgical Associates in Orlando, Florida. Currently, Dr. Fishman operates a private practice in Brandon, Florida, and formerly acted as the Director of Neurological Surgery for Brandon Regional Hospital, as well as the Chairman for the hospital's Department of Surgery. Dr. Fishman served as the Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery with Brandon Regional Hospital from 2004 until 2007. In 1984, Dr. Larry Fishman passed the first part of the Neurological Surgery Exam of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. By 1993, Dr. Fishman was board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Currently, Dr. Fishman holds a Florida Department of Health medical license. Dr. Fishman also maintains professional memberships with the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, the Southern Medical Association, and others.
