Before joining the non-profit Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers (TAAHP), Kristi Sutterfield leveraged her extensive knowledge of real estate and corporate leadership as Executive Director of the Texas Association of Builders (TAB). At the head of the trade organization that represents more than 14,000 members and 33 regional builders’ groups, she implemented lasting growth on numerous fronts. Kristi Sutterfield cultivated valuable affiliations with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Railroad Commission of Texas, and the State Energy Conservation Office that afforded TAB increased resources. Sutterfield utilized the partnerships to create a series of reputable education programs. Committed to expanding the group’s reach, she assisted in designing Texas Builder magazine, a bimonthly periodical that explores current trends in home construction, shifts in laws and regulations, and the latest news about the industry climate. Her efforts in raising the organization’s public image also included the management of the Sunbelt Builders Show, a trade exhibition that received mention as one of the “Fastest 50 Trade Shows” by Trade Show Weekly. Kristi Sutterfield’s inventive and multi-tiered direction of TAB ultimately garnered her the title of Executive Officer of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders.

Today, Kristi Sutterfield channels her skills for organization and publicity into the Annual Housing Conference, an event hosted by TAAHP each summer. She allocates financial resources, advertising sponsors, and keynote speakers for the three-day educational forum, which assists housing professionals in developing skills to promote affordable housing. Throughout a career path that spans more than 30 years, Sutterfield acted as a real estate instructor at Dallas County Community College, manager of Red Carpet Real Estate, consultant with General Electric Capital Corporation, Project Developer and Marketing Director with Hunt Oil Company, and Executive Officer and Government Affairs Director with Greater Fort Worth Builders Association.
