An accomplished print and broadcast journalist, Kristina Ruiz-Healy has garnered considerable experience as a public speaker on a variety of subjects, such as writing, Latin-American socioeconomic issues, cultural communications, journalism and her personal experiences as the daughter of two cultures.
Eight years after employment as a Staff Writer and Photographer for the Lackland Tailspinner, the newspaper at Lackland Air Force Base, Kristina Ruiz-Healy received an invitation to speak as part of the Hispanic Heritage Week organized by the Defense Language Institute at Lackland.
She spoke to national and international military personnel about her experiences and perspectives as a bicultural writer.
At the First Friday Literary Event, hosted by SAY Sí, a nonprofit multi-disciplinary arts program that serves San Antonio youth, Kristina Ruiz-Healy told stories about her bicultural heritage and how her family’s traditions gave her the tools to navigate through various culturally diverse environments, situations and how these experiences have shaped her writing and courage to get through some of life's most challenging situations.
She also earned an invitations to speak at the President’s Conference on Immigration at Trinity University, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Honors Convocation, the Creative Writing Graduate Program at St. Mary’s University, Cultural Communication class, at the University of Texas at San Antonio and at the Free Trade Alliance Mexico Group. At all these groups, Kristina Ruiz-Healy took the opportunity to inspire student to embrace who they are and follow a vision of what they would like to achieve in life no matter obstacles lie ahead.
Kristina Ruiz-Healy reminded students that the best time to dream, work hard and face fears is when life's dreams feel out of reach. Kristina Ruiz-Healy told a story about the discouragement her own high school English teacher gave her. Kristina decided to continue following her passion to write, practiced her writing no matter how many times she failed and secured a column in the La Mesa Forum at the age of 17.
Kristina Ruiz-Healy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Latin American Studies and Studio Art from Mills College. She earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Certified as an Assistant Monitour by the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA), Kristina Ruiz-Healy serves as a Coach at multiple venues in and around the San Antonio, Texas area. Utilizing both interpersonal communication skills and a natural inclination for the sport, the art and precision of fencing, Kristina Ruiz-Healy is at home teaching promising young athletes in an after School Structured Program Environment.
Membership in the Coaches Association provides opportunities and benefits to coaches unavailable through any other organization. The USFCA provides opportunities to enhance your professional coaching career, improve your teaching, receive internationally recognized accreditation, serve on committees, support the associations' programs to upgrade the coaching and teaching of fencing, and gain access to USFCA member services.
The United States Fencing Coaches' Association is a national academy of the Academie d'Armes Internationale, (AAI), the world organization of fencing masters. There are currently more than 20 members nations in the AAI. The diplomas awarded through the USFCA are recognized by the AAI and its member national academies throughout the world.

KPAC has specialized in broadcasting classical music and fine arts information since November 7, 1982.
