Kirk Sanford - Professional Summary:     Kirk Sanford founded Sightline Payments in 2009 to raise gaming-transaction products to a new level, while also making them available to casinos at a lower cost than over-priced systems already in use. The chief executive officer and president of Sightline Payments accomplished this goal by assembling a team, including executive vice president’s Tom Sears and Diran Kludjian, and other seasoned and experienced professionals. Kirk Sanford - Professional Experience:   Kirk Sanford, Sightline Payments founder and CEO, is a pioneer and leader in payment and marketing services to the casino industry and prior to the announcement of retirement in 2007, he was the Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director of Global Cash Access Inc. (NYSE: GCA). Kirk Sanford's entrepreneurial leadership took GCA from a start-up company to a NYSE public company with more than $1.5Billion market capitalization, $650Million in annualized revenues, and 400 employees around the world. Kirk Sanford has also been involved with a number of other successful businesses including his role as Chief Executive Officer, President and Owner of Central Credit, a provider of gaming patron credit information services to casinos throughout the world. Kirk Sanford has completed various M&A, leverage recapitalizations, high yield financings, private equity, and initial public offerings. Kirk Sanford was featured by Business Week as one of the Top 100 CEO's Under 40.

 

Kirk Sanford - Timelines:  

  • May 1995, under Kirk Sanford’s leadership, GCA began operations as a 50/50 joint venture with Bank of America and M&C International under the name Global Cash Access (GCA). Debit Card cash advance was introduced to the industry for the first time.
  • July 1998, First Data, whom acquired Comdata’s Gaming (Comchek) Division in 1996, merged the business to form Global Cash Access, LLC, a joint venture 58% owned by First Data and 42% by Bank of America and M&C International. The Telecheck and Western Union gaming divisions which were wholly subsidiaries of First Data were also contributed to the venture. Kirk Sanford was the companies CEO and President. The 3-in-1 ATM was patented and introduced to the industry.
  • July 1999, Kirk Sanford acquired Central Credit from Cendant Corp, the world’s largest provider of gamblers' credit information to casinos.
  • August 2000, GCA acquired Innoventry, a subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank, a provider of ATM services to casinos throughout the US.
  • September 2000, First Data and M&C acquired Bank of America’s ownership interest in GCA and Bank of America’s casino ATM business.
  • March 2004, Kirk Sanford led the leverage recapitalization of GCA by Redeeming First Data’s interest in GCA through a $435 million leverage buyout with bank debt and a high yield bond financing. Bank of America, the lead banker, bought 5% of GCA at the time of the bond offering.
  • May 2004, Summit Partners, Tudor Investments, HarbourVest Partners, and the GM Pension Fund bought 55% of GCA.
  • September 2005, Sanford took GCA public on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) at a $1.2 billion valuation. ATM function on TITO Redemption devices was introduced.
  • May 2006, a secondary stock offering was completed.
  • October 2007, Mr. Sanford retired at age 40 to pursue other interests and spend time with his wife and three kids.
  • 2008, Mr. Sanford launched Sightline Acquisition Corp. a privately held investment fund that specializes in distressed business and real estate related assets.
  • January 2010, Kirk Sanford launches Sightline Payments (a competitor to his former company GCA) and UB Ventures (specializing in prepaid bank sponsorships and small dollar loan programs for underserved/underbanked population)
