Kenny Tran is a Vietnamese-American professional poker player from Arcadia, born in 1974. Kenny Tran is known as a cash game specialist who plays in high stakes No Limit Texas Hold 'Em games. He has a fearless attitude and an aggressive style of play and maybe that’s just one of the things that push him to the top. Throughout his play, Kenny Tran has shown many qualities of a winner.
In the world of poker, it’s really hard to make a good name for yourself as a cash game player. The big tournament players get all the credits while cash game specialists only get the respect of their peers. But that rule does not apply for Kenny Tran – ever since the 2008 World Series of Poker, he has both.
In 1999 he began his poker player career and since then has eight World Series of Poker cashes. Then Kenny Tran made the final table of the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2007 WSOP where he finished in 5th place and won $444,000. In that same year he had his highest finish in the Main Event, finishing in 16th and earning a prize of $381,000. Kenny Tran also finished in 16th position in the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, earning $68,000. Everybody saw the 2008 World Series of Poker when he took his game to a higher level. Kenny Tran went all the way in the $10K Heads-Up No-Limit Hold 'em World Championship and worked his way to the top of the pack of 256 players - taking out eight opponents back-to-back in heads-up play. It was then when he earned $540K and his first WSOP bracelet. It’s not very often when players earn such scores in such short periods, so maybe Kenny Tran might have to break himself away from the cash games and play in some more tournaments to really prove what he’s worth.
It’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a lot of Kenny Tran in the future as one of the game’s best all-around players. As of 2008 his total winnings exceed $2,000,000.
