About Kenia Davalos

Kenia Davalos focuses her advanced leadership and business training on supporting the entrepreneurialism and financial dependence of women and minorities. Currently serving as an instructor of finance with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension, Davalos possesses a long history of success in academia.

Prior to launching her career as a business leader and public advocate, Kenia Davalos completed her undergraduate education at UCLA and the University of California, Santa Cruz, and she earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration and Public Affairs at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Davalos also attended graduate courses in Internet commerce at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, and she holds a certificate in executive business management from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. In 2006, Kenia Davalos earned fellowship status with the Harvard Business School’s Corporate Governance Executive Education program.

Kenia Davalos’ achievements in academics include establishing new educational initiatives and distinguishing herself as a talented and innovative instructor. Working within UCLA Extension’s Business and Finance department for three years now, Davalos currently heads a Financial Health to Wealth for Women program, a results-driven class focused on teaching women financial literacy. Students enrolled in the course learn methods of budgeting that lead to, on average, about $2,000 in savings. Kenia Davalos also recently helped establish the Executive Leadership Academy, a joint effort of the University of California, Berkeley’s Center for Studies in Higher Education and the Association of Hispanics in Higher Education. In both 2009 and 2010, Davalos received recognition as one of UCLA Extension’s Distinguished Instructors.

An accomplished business leader as well, Kenia Davalos currently operates as the first Hispanic Chairperson of the Los Angeles County Small Business Commission, a position she was unanimously elected to in 2011 after many years of serving with the organization. Her advancement efforts in the business community over the past several years have included heading a National Diversity Business Advocacy campaign and promoting the lobbying efforts of the National Federation of Independent Business.
