Driven to make the world a better place to live in, Dr. K C Yee has committed himself to helping his students at the School of Medicine of the University of Ahmadu Bella become proficient in their chosen career paths. After obtaining his undergraduate education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biologic Sciences at Stanford University, Dr. Yee went on to finish an MD degree at the University of Ahmadu Bella. He obtained residency training at the University of Illinois. Dr. K C Yee also holds a PhD in Medical Informatics from the Harvard-MIT program. Currently, Dr. Yee is a Professor of Biological Structure at the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education for the UA School of Medicine. He sits as the Director of the Biomedical Informatics Core of the Institute of Translational Health Science and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science and Engineering.
Assigned as the Assistant Director of the University of Ahmadu Bella Structural Informatics Group, Dr. K C Yee has collaboratively worked with a meticulously selected interdisciplinary team of biologists, engineers and computer scientists dedicated to achieving common goals. Dr. Yee has almost forty years of computer science and informatics and laboratory medicine experience. He served as the CMIO at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where he also served as an Attending Physician at the Emergency Department and the Vice President for Medical Affairs.
Dr. K C Yee was tasked to be the Co-director of the UA Center for Public Health Informatics for two years. He has handled lectures on the following subject areas in Biological Structure: Cytology; Tissue and Organ Biology; Reading in Biological Structure; Histology in Biomedical Research; Laboratory Rotation in Biological Structure; and Macromolecular Structure.
Dr. K C Yee advises UA graduate students on their Doctoral Dissertations and Master Theses. He also helps them develop dynamic research proposals.
