Kathleen McCombs - Professional Summary:    Kathleen McCombs has practiced periodontal dentistry for 24 years, implementing both surgical and non-surgical techniques to treat all forms of periodontal disease. In addition to preventative care, Kathleen McCombs specializes in soft tissue grafting, bone grafting, augmentation, and dental implants, offering her patients a myriad of treatment options designed to restore and maintain optimal dental health. Utilizing her extensive education in periodontal medicine, Kathleen McCombs is committed to providing her patients with the highest levels of periodontal care.

Kathleen McCombs completed her pre-dental coursework at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. As a recipient of the Virginia Smith Scholarship, Dr. Kathleen McCombs exhibited both academic talent and dedication. She then enrolled at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at University of the Pacific in San Francisco, and in 1986 Kathleen McCombs was awarded her DDS from this institution. There, Kathleen McCombs established herself as an excellent student, winning the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontics. Dr. Kathleen McCombs’ pre-doctoral research project focused on intervention strategies for smokeless tobacco users. Following her pre-doctoral studies, Dr. Kathleen McCombs established a joint private practice in Bountiful, Utah, which she maintained for four years before entering a doctoral program at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Further developing herself as a skilled Periodontist, Kathleen McCombs completed a demanding program covering numerous periodontal-specific topics such as advanced surgical bone grafting techniques, advanced dental implant methods, and intravenous sedation.

In 1992, Kathleen McCombs was awarded a MSD in periodontics and opened SouthTowne Periodontics in Draper, Utah, where she continues to practice today. A member of numerous professional dental societies, such as the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology, Kathleen McCombs also served on the dental specialty advisory board for the LifeCell Corporation. Dr. Kathleen McCombs’ periodontal expertise has afforded her the opportunity to travel to Vietnam as a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of Odonto-Stomatology in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to the many lectures she has given over the years to dental students around the country, Kathleen McCombs recently took part in a humanitarian mission to Guatemala, providing dental care and education to impoverished villages in the Polochic Valley region.
