Karan Goel is a professional cricketer who was born on December 24, 1986 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India.
This left-handed opening batsman and part-time offspinner has played for Punjab at different levels from Under-14 (U-14) to U-22 and made it to the Punjab’s senior side during the 2005-06 season. He made his First-class debut for Punjab on December 1, 2005 against Haryana at Mohali. His career proceeded smoothly and in his first 16 matches, Karan Goel had scored 739 runs, including one century and four half-centuries, with a best score of 127. He also picked up 5 wickets in the 364 deliveries that he bowled at an economy rate of 4.21. He played for the North Zone team in the 2007-08 Duleep Trophy, which his team eventually won, beating West Zone in the final.
Karan Goel played his first List A match on February 10, 2007 against Haryana at Mohali. In his first 20 matches, he scored 733 runs, which includes two hundreds and four fifties and the best score of 122, at an average of 43.11 and strike rate of 70.95.
Karan Goel made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Punjab on April 3, 2007 against Haryana, in a match played at Delhi. In the ten T20 matches that he played before the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Karan Goel made 313 runs, including three half-centuries, at a strike rate of 107.93, with his best score being 82. Also, with the ball, he took six wickets in the 31 deliveries that he bowled and maintained an economy rate of 4.45. Kings XI Punjab signed Karan Goel for the IPL season, and he made his IPL debut on April 19, 2008 against Chennai Super Kings. He ended the season with 76 runs in 7 matches at an average of 12.66 and strike rate of 97.43.
