Justin Hoyte, a professional football player, was born on November 20, 1984 in Leytonstone, London, England. He is a right-back defender and occasionally plays in the left-back and central-back position. He comes from a family of renowned sports personalities, his younger brother, Gavin Hoyte, plays for the Arsenal team as of 2008.
Justin Hoyte made his maiden international appearance in 2004, when he played for the Under (U)-21 English team. In November 2006, he scored his first goal for the team in the epic semi-final shootout game against Netherlands. He has participated in all the four matches at the 2007 Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Under-21 Championship and was eventually capped eighteen times for his national side.
At the age of nine, Justin Hoyte joined Arsenal, and worked his way up to sign professional deals with the club in May 2003. He made his debut on behalf of the club as an eighty ninth minute substitute in their win over Southampton. He was also a part of the winning team in the Football Association (FA) Community Shield in 2004. It was followed by his appearances in five league matches during the 2004-05 season.
Justin Hoyte was loaned to Sunderland in August 2005, and played for the club for a year, during which he made 31 appearances, and managed to score a goal against Newcastle United in April 2006. After his glorious victory for the Black Cats, he returned back to Arsenal at the end of 2006.
In the 2006-07 season, Justin Hoyte played as a left-back defender for Arsenal in the place of injured Gaël Clichy, an established French footballer. Soon, he resumed his favorite right-back position to replace injured Emmanuel Eboué, an Ivorian football player. On January 2, 2007, Justin Hoyte scored his first goal for Arsenal against Charlton Athletic and became the first Englishman to score a goal for Arsenal at the new Emirates Stadium. He has also represented the Arsenal club in the Carling Cup. In the 2006-07 League cup, he was part of the team which won the runner-up title. In the 2007 and 2008 Amsterdam Tournament, he made his presence felt by being a part of the winning team. In 2007, Justin Hoyte took part in the Emirates Cup, in which his team outlasted all prominent teams and emerged as winners.
Aston Villa offered £4.5 million to Arsenal for Justin Hoyte, but the club’s manager, Arsene Wenger, denied the offer. As of 2008, Justin Hoyte has played in 67 matches for Arsenal. In August 2008, the Middlesbrough Club signed Justin Hoyte for a £3 million fee.
