Upon earning a Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, Julie Monson joined the professional world while simultaneously pursuing graduate studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Monson received her Master's degree in Business Administration from St. Thomas and joined the professional world soon after. Landing the position of Project Director of Marketing Research and Consulting at Mid-Continent Research in Minneapolis, Julie Monson began a promising career in market research and analysis. From 1983 to 1987, an array of Mid-Continent clients came to depend on Julie Monson for her guidance and investigation into both qualitative and quantitative issues. Land O'Lakes recruited Julie Monson in 1987 as a Marketing Research Manager in the Consumer Packaged Goods (Dairy Foods) division. Monson researched consumer attitudes and behavior on butter and margarine and helped introduce the first-ever light butter to the U.S. marketplace. Developing strategies to advertise and position the new product, Julie Monson played an essential role in its success. Working on another Land O'Lakes brand, Monson's research efforts ultimately contributed $14 million to Land O'Lakes' annual sales revenues. Monson's research into underperforming brands also saved Land O'Lakes $500,000 per year. In 1994, Julie Monson joined Martin/Williams Advertising as Senior Account Planner, greatly increasing her oversight and responsibilities. At Martin/Williams, Julie Monson focused on all aspects of the advertising industry, from account and strategic planning to creative development and refinement. Monson facilitated development of new businesses pitches, created positioning strategies for brands, and facilitated brainstorming workshops. Monson left in 2001 to form Julie F. Monson Marketing Research & Planning. Julie Monson has turned Julie F. Monson Marketing Research & Planning into one of the premiere firms in the Minneapolis/St. Paul region.
