About Julie Fellmeth

While a student the University of San Diego School of Law, Julie Fellmeth participated as an Intern in the school's Center for Public Interest Law (CPIL), one of the first students to do so. Also during this period, Julie Fellmeth functioned as Editor-in-Chief for the San Diego Law Review. After graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctor, Julie Fellmeth worked for two years as a Law Clerk for Chief Judge Carl A. Muecke in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. After serving the U.S. Department of Justice as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Division of the Federal Programs Branch, Julie Fellmeth returned to the University of San Diego School of Law in 1986 in the capacity of Supervising Attorney with the CPIL.

 

Julie Fellmeth has remained with CPIL for 24 years, earning a promotion to the position of Administrative Director in 1995. Julie Fellmeth’s role with the CPIL enables her to engage in her passion for public interest law and to assist students at the University of San Diego School of Law. Julie Fellmeth has undertaken a variety of advocacy work with the CPIL, which includes supporting stricter government regulation for the state’s medical community, encouraging playground safety regulations, and advancing education programs on privacy issues for the public. Julie Fellmeth encourages students interested in regulatory and administrative law through her role with CPIL, running the program’s internship program. As Editor for the CPIL’s California Regulatory Law Reporter, Julie Fellmeth advises students as they monitor regulatory agencies and write articles.

 

In addition, Julie Fellmeth offers her thoughts to students on how they can improve their articles. Julie Fellmeth also serves as Faculty Advisor for the student group Public Interest Law Foundation. Additionally, Julie Fellmeth works with the Loan Repayment Assistance Program, which helps graduates working in public interest law to repay their student loans. Since instituting the program four years ago, Julie Fellmeth has helped to raise over $100,000. Among her other duties, Julie Fellmeth, along with Professor Robert Fellmeth, team teaches courses on regulatory law for the University of San Diego School of Law.
