No other player has brought so much attention and focus to the United Kingdom as Julian Gardner has done. Hailing from his hometown of Manchester, England, Julian Gardner is definitely a force to be reckoned with especially when he’s the youngest professional poker to sweep the game to ongoing victories. From an early age, Julian Gardner knew exactly what he wanted to be when grew up – a professional poker. Gardner became exactly that when he graduated from high school. Julian Gardner holds many victories and has won tournaments all over the world, including London, Paris, and Germany. In 2002, Julian Gardner won an astonishing 2nd place at the WSOP (World Series of Poker Championships) taking home a prize of $1,100,000.
When Julian Gardner was only 21, he won the $10,000 European Omaha Championship in 2000. Julian Gardner seems that he was destined to be a great poker legend one day. Following in the footsteps of his father Dave who was a respected pro poker player in the UK at that time, Julian began visiting local casino’s at the age of 15 and incredibly, by the time he was 20 he had already won 10 tournaments, and at 25 years old, he had already accomplished an unparalleled feat of finishing 25 tables.
Julian Gardner finished in second place at the 2002 World Series of Poker, making him the youngest player to ever win a prize of over $1,000,000 and he was only 24 years at that time, going up against seasoned and experienced professionals in the game for years. Julian Gardner also finished in the main money event in 2003 and 2004, making him the only player in professional poker history to finish in the money in 2202, 2003, and 2004. As of 2007, Julian Gardner’s total live tournament winnings exceed $2,400,000. Julian Gardner has also finished in third place at the final table of the Poker Million VI winning himself his biggest prize since the 2002 World Series of Poker, $250,000.
Julian Gardner has been referred to by his opponents as one of those “quiet players” who ends up being the most intimidating at championships. Gardner still plays in many live tournaments and has earned himself more than $2,000,000 in prize money. These days, Julian Gardner prefers to stay close to home and participate in online poker tournaments – where he can manage his play differently. In 2006, Julian Gardner took home the 3rd place spot in the $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event earning him more than $172,000. Gardner’s poker interests have not only been retained to live tournaments, and in 2004 he co-authored The Secrets of Online Power Poker with Padraig Parkinson and Scott Gray. Julian Gardner intended for the book to be a manual filled with insight to his readers on how to win big playing poker online. "I cannot believe how much we've packed into this manual," Gardner says on the book's promotional site. "We've revealed to any reader how they can win thousands of dollars." Julian Gardner is currently engaged to Kerry Clarke, another pro who he met at the poker tournament, he actually eliminated her during the 888.com UK Poker Open in 2005 before he earned himself 4th place. As for now, Julian Gardner has an optimistic future for him and the more he continues to play his game, the more he earns himself the title of one of Europe’s most respected poker players.
