J.C. Alvarado or Juan Carlos Alvarado, an American professional poker player, is well known in the poker circuit by his pseudonym “J.C”. He was born on May 6, 1985, in Mexico City, Mexico, but currently resides in Las Vegas, California. J.C. Alvarado started playing poker the year after he graduated from high school. Initially, he played home games with his friends and later started playing online poker.
J.C. Alvarado made his first international appearance in the year 2006, when he entered Harrah's New Orleans Poker Tournament – World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event. He took part in Event #3 - Circuit No-Limit Hold'em and made a decent finish. Later in the same year, he entered the 37th Annual World Series of Poker held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. After defeating 420 entrants of Event #43 - WSOP No-Limit Hold'em, he made it to the final table, finished sixth, and earned prize money worth $28,665.
In 2007, J.C. Alvarado gave a commendable performance, when he finished second in Event #19 – No-Limit Hold'em of the LA Poker Classic/World Poker Tour (WPT) Event Season 5. He outlasted 235 tournament entrants and played heads-up with Peter Tran, a poker pro from the United States of America, who had three first-place finishes to his credit. For his aggressive style of play, J.C. Alvarado won cash prize worth $108,275. In the same year, J.C. Alvarado took part in Event #17 - WPT No-Limit Hold'em Championship at the World Poker Challenge/World Poker Tour Event Season 5 held at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino, Nevada. He outlasted a total of 475 entrants and made an incredible second-place finish. At the end of the event, he walked away with prize money worth $366,798. On July 9, 2007, he cashed $25,155 in prize money in the No-Limit Hold'em Championship event of the CEO Poker Tour by finishing in sixth place.
In the 2008 LA Poker Classic/WPT Event Season 6, J.C. Alvarado participated in Event #19 – No-Limit Hold'em and made an incredible third-place finish and bagged $29,370 cash prize.
When he finds free time, J.C. Alvarado likes to play football, watch live UFC fights, and visit his family in Mexico City.
