Born and raised in Baltimore, Washington, Josh Schlein is considered one of the professional poker players of the "new generation". He started his way in online poker tournaments, under the nickname "Sdouble", and practiced his technique there.
The first live poker tournament Josh Schlein ever took part in was the No Limit Hold'em tournament in the WPT Season 4 Aruba Poker Classic event. Surprisingly enough, Josh Schlein took the 16th place in that tournament, and all that before he was even old enough to play in American poker rooms. Ever since then Josh Schlein has cashed five more prizes, the largest and most respectable of which was won only six days after his first cash winning: to everyone's amazement, he took the 2nd place in the WPT No Limit Hold'em tournament in the WPT Season 4 Aruba Poker Classic event, along with $440,450.
After finishing high school, Josh Schlein enrolled to college and started going to lectures, but soon enough he realized that was not the right path for him to follow, dropped out of school and return to his realm of mostly-online poker rooms and tournaments.
When he was asked about his success in both online and live poker tournaments, Josh Schlein said that most of the poker players who play in live tournaments lose their edge when playing online, since they have become used to playing psychological games. His playing method, he continued, is to "think what they're thinking and think what I'm thinking and go from there". Apparently it works, since unlike most of the online poker players, Josh Schlein manages to win both online and live tournaments, and his card sense had already led a few of his opponents and viewers to believe he might have some sort of supernatural advantage over others.
