Joseph Tehan was born on September 15th in Utica, New York, where he was also raised. After studying economics and business administration in college, he decided to move to Las Vegas, Nevada and play poker. Las Vegas still remains the place of his residence. The reason for that was that fellow colleagues at the university introduced Joseph Tehan to poker and his interest in the game began to grow. He started out playing low limits, but soon decided he wanted bigger action and began traveling to casinos to play at higher stakes.

Joseph Tehan is a pretty competitive player and enjoys all kinds of games – cards, board games, backgammon, golf etc. During the first two years in Vegas, Joseph Tehan began his poker career as a ring game player, playing only cash games in order to build up his bankroll. That was until December 2005, when he started participating in live tournaments. His first cash came in April 2005 at the Bellagio Hotel tournament, where he earned $1.5K. Joseph Tehan gained his first big victory at the World Poker Tour Fifth Season Mandalay Bay Poker Championship, where he earned the amazing sum of $1,033,440. That same year, he cashed in 13 major poker tournaments and appeared in two WPT final tables. Joseph Tehan is quickly becoming popular in the poker world. His future ambition is winning the Main Evet at the WSOP. Joseph Tehan`s other three 1st place finishes are as follows:
