Jonathan Rooks

 

Jonathan Rooks - Professional Summary:    

 

Jonathan works as a Senior Lecturer at London South Bank University, www.lsbu.ac.uk specialising in Management Accounting at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He qualified with the ACCA in 1997. Jonathan runs the MSc Corporate Governance programme which gives graduates the qualification of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries (ICSA). Contact him at rooksj@lsbu.ac.uk.

 

Jonathan is the Green Party candidate for the May 2012 Greater London Assembly elections for the Bromley & Bexley Constituency. He was the Green Party candidate in the 2010 General Election for Old Bexley & Sidcup, the constituency in which he lives. http://bexley.greenparty.org.uk/localsites/bexley.html.

Jonathan is involved in local heritage charities being the Chairman of Crossness Engines Trust www.crossness.org.uk. The Crossness Pumping Station was built by Sir Joseph Bazalgette as part of Victorian London's main sewerage system. A major new exhibition gallery is being developed on the site.

Jonathan is currently working with a group, Bexley Village Community Library to try to ensure a library service is maintained in Bexley village. The group, under the charity Greener Bexley, takes over the running of the Library from the Spring of 2012.

 

 

Jonathan Rooks - Professional Experience:     

 

Jonathan currently works as an accounting lecturer but has wide experience having worked as an accountant, in marketing and insurance sales and originally as an Army Officer in the Infantry (King's Own Royal Border Regiment). 

 

 

Jonathan Rooks - Education:    A Zoologist by first degree (BSc Hons Zoology from Royal Holloway College, London University), Jonathan has a professional accounting qualification (ACCA) and a Masters in Accounting (MSc Accounting from London South Bank University) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE)  -  a teaching qualification from Greenwich University.

 

Jonathan Rooks - Interests:     

 

Jonathan is very interested in conservation issues, being directly involved with a number of local organisations as well as being a member of several others. He plays hockey for Bexleyheath & Belvedere Hockey Club www.bbhockey.co.uk and supports Dover Athletic F.C.  www.doverathletic.com.
