Jonás Gutiérrez is an Argentine footballer born on July 5, 1983, in Roque Sáenz Peña, Buenos Aires Province. This winger is nicknamed “Spiderman” as he wore a spiderman mask while celebrating his goals while playing for Real Mallorca, and he is also known as “Forest Gump”.

Jonás Gutiérrez made his first appearance for the national squad of Argentina in February 2007 in a match against France and his second cap came on September 11 against Australia. He played his next match on June 18, 2008, at the 2010 Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup qualifiers in an away match against Brazil that ended in a goaless draw.

Jonás Gutiérrez began his club career in 1999 as a part of the Vélez Sársfield’s youth club and progressed to its senior side in 2001. He soon established himself as a regular member of the team. 2005 was a high point in his career as the club won the Primera División Argentina Clausura Tournament that year. Later that year, Jonás Gutiérrez made a move to the La Liga with RCD Mallorca FC. He played 96 matches for them and scored 5 goals.

In July 2008, Jonás Gutiérrez joined Newcastle United after signing a five-year contract for an undisclosed transfer fee and was given jersey number 18. He played his first game for Newcastle United in a 1-1 draw match against Manchester United on August 17, 2008. In Match of the Day, a television programme, BBC football pundit and former footballer, Alan Hansen called him the most impressive Premier League debutant. Jonás Gutiérrez also received plaudits from the former footballer and coach of England national team, Kevin Keegan, who finds the young winger to be very determined and professional.
