Joleon Patrick Lescott, popularly known as Joleon Lescott, is a professional football player who was born on August 16, 1982 in Birmingham, England. He is the younger brother of Aaron Lescott who plays for Bristol Rovers Football Club as of 2008.


Joleon Lescott represents England at the international level and has been a part of Under-18, Under-20, and Under-21 squads. He made his debut for the England B team on May 25, 2007 in a match against Albania at Burnley’s Turf Moor. On September 3, 2007, he was selected in England’s squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia. However, Joleon Lescott made his first international appearance the following month by replacing Rio Ferdinand in a match against Estonia. His first start for the national side came in his second international appearance at a Euro 2008 qualifier match against Russia. Joleon Lescott also figured in the starting eleven in a friendly match against Austria, where he displayed a good performance at defense and helped his team win 1-0. On March 26, 2008, he came on as a substitute at half time for the former England captain, John Terry.


As a child, Joleon Lescott was inspired to take up the sport after seeing is brother, Aaron Lescott, playing football. He started his career with Grinham Giants in the Quinton Little League, Birmingham and was spotted by Wolverhampton Wanderers. When he was thirteen, he took a year’s gap from football to relax and enjoy with his friends and came back to continue with the sport. Initially, Joleon Lescott played as a midfielder when he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers and went on to play in the local Saturday and Sunday leagues. When he was nearing the end of his school days, he realized that wanted to take up football professionally and rejoined Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 1, 1999 as a specialist defender. During the 2000-2001 season, the club’s fans voted Joleon Lescott the Supporters' Young Player of the Year, a title that he won the following year as well. He played for the Wolves till June 14, 2006 and made 212 appearances with thirteen goals to his credit.


With the end of his stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Joleon Lescott signed a contract with Everton Football Club for a transfer fee of £5,000,000. He made his debut for the club in August 2006 and contributed for the victory of his team against Watford. In the same season, Joleon Lescott made his first start for the club when he replaced Alan Stubbs for the match against Tottenham Hotspur. This match marked the first victory for the club at White Hart Lane in two decades and Joleon Lescott was awarded Man of the Match. He scored his first goal for Everton in a match against Aston Villa at Villa Park on April 2, 2007 that ended up in 1-1 draw. His teammates voted him as Player's Player of the Season for his impressive success during the 2006-2007 season. On May 8, 2008, Joleon Lescott was awarded with Everton’s Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year titles at the end of the season in an award ceremony held at St Georges Hall in Liverpool. The Everton Disabled Supporters Association (EDSA) also awarded him the Player of the Year award on May 11, 2008 and labeled him “Mr. Consistency” for his impressive game play during the 2008-2009 season.
