John Tindall-Gibson

For more than 30 years, education professional John Tindall-Gibson has achieved success in teaching, curriculum development, budget management, and staff development. He has served in teaching and administrative capacities in school districts in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Arizona. As the Superintendent of Schools of Naugatuck Public Schools in Connecticut, John Tindall-Gibson holds responsibility for 11 schools with a combined annual budget of $56 million.

 

In addition to leading an effort to raise test scores within the district, Tindall-Gibson has implemented full-day kindergarten and installed a large array of solar panels on the Naugatuck High School’s rooftop. Prior to his time with Naugatuck Public Schools, John Tindall-Gibson served as the superintendent of Litchfield Public Schools in Connecticut and Lincoln Public Schools in Rhode Island. Earlier in his career, John Tindall-Gibson gained extensive experience in teaching and administration with Amphitheater Public Schools in Tucson, Arizona. First serving as a Teacher, and later as a Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Principal, Tindall-Gibson taught classes on subjects ranging from sociology to U.S. government, developed innovative educational programs, and honed his leadership skills.

 

Early in his career, John Tindall-Gibson also taught a graduate-level course in education at The University of Arizona and managed dozens of projects for two construction firms based in Tucson. After graduating from The University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, John Tindall-Gibson earned a Master of Education in Foundations of Education, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. An active member of his professional community, Tindall-Gibson maintains membership in organizations such as the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, the New England Association of School Superintendents, the Litchfield County Superintendents Association, and including the American Association of School Administrators.

 

Highly active in his community, John Tindall-Gibson maintains membership in organizations including the Sierra Club, Appalachian Mountain Club, Mohonk Preserve, and Young Writers. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, canoeing, and organic gardening.
