As an acclaimed performer and talented pianist, John Nauman began his career with a recital at the Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center in New York where he won the AMSA Competition. Nauman has showcased his work on international stages including Saint John’s Smith Square in London, the Davos Music Festival in Switzerland, and a tour through Japan with violinist Ayako Yonetari. He has performed alongside noted groups such as the Rochester Philharmonic, the New Orleans Symphony and the Boston Pops.
John Nauman’s stirring performances are also captured on albums featuring his classical piano talent. He released a solo album, Fantasy, featuring pieces from Liszt and Scriabin. Working alongside composer Ricky Ian Gordon, Nauman’s work is featured on the album Bright Eyed Joy: The Songs of Ricky Ian Gordon, and also on their latest album, Piano Music of Ricky Ian Gordon.
Nauman attended the world-renowned Julliard School where he was granted the prestigious Van Cliburn Scholarship. As a performance student, he earned both his Bachelor and Master degrees at the institution. He went on to share his knowledge with budding musicians as an instructor at Diller Quaile School, the Marymount School, and Julliard’s pre-college division. Today, John Nauman attends the University of Arizona where he is earning his Doctor of Musical Arts. Since attending the university, Nauman has earned the annual Arizona Repertory Theater Award.
John Nauman has also been awarded by the Stravinsky Awards, the Xerox Affiliate Artist Program, and the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition (now known as the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition).
In his spare time, John Nauman enjoys reading the work of authors such as Anne Rice and David Sedaris. He also enjoys exercising, swimming, and writing.
