John Lam

John Lam is one of the most talented young poker players to have come from Canada. The 26 year old John Lam is nicknamed “Popkorn” and is currently based in Toronto, Ontario. Though very young, he has been active on the professional poker circuit for the past couple of years. John Lam gained instant fame when he finished in the 3rd place at the 2006 North American Poker Championships (a WPT Event) at one of the Hold’em events.

John Lam started playing the game of poker in 2003 when he was just 21; however, it was not before 2006 that he started taking poker seriously. He was initiated into the game of poker after watching the WPT events on the television.

Just new to the world of professional poker, John Lam made a great beginning to the year 2006 by taking the 1st place at the Great Blue Heron Casino Poker Challenge where he participated in the No Limit Hold'em event. Along with the 1st place John Lam also made good money and pocketed $23,175 as the prize money. The big moment for John Lam came in the same year when he made more than $350,000 in prize money at the North American Poker Championships / WPT Event Season 5. Still a Business Economics student at the York University in Toronto, John Lam went on to finish at the 3rd place in the WPT No Limit Hold'em event, claiming a whopping $352,541 as the prize money.

John Lam is a player of amazing poker skills and this has been evident in the various poker events that he has participated in. some of his recent results include a 2nd place finish at the GBH Poker Challenge, where he took part in the No Limit Hold'em event. Till date, John Lam has 4 cashes to his credit while his current career winnings stands at $383,994. Though he is yet to repeat the success of the year 2006, he is making progress in leaps and bounds and one might soon find him fighting for a place among the top poker professionals on the tournament circuit.
