About John Keaveney
John Keaveney - Professional Summary:
Over the course of more than two decades in the construction safety industry, John Keaveney has initiated dozens of programs and policies that have led to safer work conditions for hundreds of employees. John Keaveney has operated as a safety manager or a health and safety director for five different construction firms since 1989. John Keaveney currently serves as the Health and Safety Director of GBA Builders, LLC, where he reached 247,000 “Zero Accident” man-hours on a large-scale project.
John Keaveney’s accomplishments in the industry demonstrate his commitment to providing safe and secure worksites for his employees. In addition to establishing hundreds of health and safety committees for various projects over the years, John Keaveney operated as a Safety Manager on an overhead electrification project at J.F. White Contracting Co., where he reached more than 1 million man-hours without a lost time accident. John Keaveney has received two Gold Awards for his work on Boston’s Big Dig, one of the largest federally funded projects to date.
Working in various capacities over the years, John Keaveney established health and safety committees at numerous manufacturing facilities and oversaw the safety of upwards of 700 employees at one time. John Keaveney boasts experience in implementing in-house insurance control programs that reduce workers’ compensation and general liability costs. At Cox Engineering of Canton, Massachusetts, John Keaveney not only oversaw a modernization of the company’s fleet and the implementation of a program to track tool use and location, but was instrumental in dropping workers’ compensation claims from $1.2 million in 2000 to $18,000 in 2005.
John Keaveney has overseen development of an employee incident hotline and written the company health and safety manual for Shawmut Design and Construction of Boston. At Shawmut, John Keaveney partnered with the firm’s IT department to build a reference website for supervisors who were unable to work directly with safety personnel. John Keaveney also reduced “open” workers’ compensation claims by 80 percent his first year at Shawmut and streamlined the company’s accident reporting process.
