Born in the year 1981, John Guth has had a tough childhood, having lost his father at the age of eighteen. John Guth had his first significant finish at the Orleans Open 2006 tournament. Playing in his favorite event, Omaha Hi/Lo, John Guth ended up with a second place finish and also the $12,695 prize money. He followed this with another sterling performance bagging the first place finish at the 2006 St. Maarten Fall WorldPokerShowdown, Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event. Ever since there has been no turning back for John Guth and he has established his place as a fine poker player by winning his only WSOP bracelet in 2007.
The 38th Annual World Series of Poker, Event #36 - WSOP Omaha Hi/Lo World Championship had John Guth heads up with Robert Stevanovski on the final table. Both the players had huge support camps who kept cheering after every hand. Evenly matched for quite some time, the final table heads up changed after John Guth managed to gather some momentum and slowly started to chip away the stacks from his opponents. Eventually John Guth took all the chips away from his opponent going on to win his maiden Gold WSOP Bracelet along with the $363,216 cash prize.
Although the year 2008 is yet to witness the amazing success John Guth is now an established professional poker player and plays in most of the major poker tournaments.
