An experienced attorney, John Cutchin has practiced for more than three decades. He maintains a law firm in Newton, North Carolina, John F. Cutchin, P.A. John Cutchin attended Davidson College from 1968 until 1972, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Subsequently, he enrolled in law school at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, where he received a Juris Doctorate in 1975. Immediately following the completion of his studies, John Cutchin began practicing with a firm in Newton, and served as the Public Administrator of Estates of Catawba County, a position he held until the late 1970s. At his legal practice, John Cutchin has been a sole proprietor since 1978. He focuses on family law, criminal law, traffic offenses, and family financial mediation. John Cutchin has been a Certified Family Law Mediator since 2001. He also handles estate issues, child support and custody cases, adoptions, and name changes. He does not charge an initial consultation fee for personal injury, traffic cases or criminal cases. In addition to his legal work, John Cutchin has long been an active member of the community. At the start of his career, he served on the Board of Directors of the Newton Merchants Association, holding a number of prominent positions in the 1970s, including Chairman of the Legislative Committee and President. He was past president of the Catawba County Bar Association, and is also a member of the Lincoln County Bar Association. He was also active in Bethel United Methodist Church and is currently a member of the Episcopal Church of St. Peter by-the-Lake, and he serves on the Board of Directors of Sipe's Orchard Home.
