About John Cursio
John Cursio - Professional Summary:
Throughout his career, construction executive John Cursio has maintained involvement in a vast array of educational, professional, and personal endeavors, attaining a high degree of achievement in each of his pursuits. A lifelong resident of Ontario, Canada, John Cursio earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario before enrolling in a specialized certification program through George Brown College. Upon receipt of his Diploma in Residential Construction Management in 1984, John Cursio began working as Site Supervisor for Heron Homes, a division of the Heron Group of Companies. After building his experience in residential home construction at Heron Homes, John Cursio entered the public sector and took on responsibilities as Project Supervisor for the Ontario Ministry of Government Services. Nearly four years later, John Cursio left the Ontario Ministry of Government Services to accept an opportunity with the Management Board Secretariat as Program Manager, where he administered a wide variety of improvement projects for the province. From 1994 through 2007, John Cursio served in a number of different management roles for the Ontario Realty Corporation, overseeing activities in the Project Development and Project Management branches. Rising from Senior Project Manager to Manager of Project and Construction Services in 1999, John Cursio became Vice President of the Project Management branch four years later. At the end of this period, John Cursio performed as Senior Project Manager with Hatton & Associates, Inc., before joining the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). As Senior Project Manager for the TTC’s Transit City project, John Cursio provided direction for a diverse team of professionals, ensuring the efficient development of a $1.4 billion light rail rapid transit project. Since then, John Cursio has operated in the private sector, serving as Manager of Business Development for ENVIROWALL Partition Systems Ltd. and Manager of Operations at Terco Construction Ltd., where he currently works. John Cursio enjoys a variety of recreational activities, including playing golf whenever possible. An avid hockey enthusiast as well, John Cursio was a member of the West Mall Oldtimers Hockey League and played for a team in its Silver Division. Notably, John Cursio helped his team win the Silver Division Championship for the 2007/2008 season. John Cursio lives and works in the greater Toronto area.
