About john clement
John Kuttler Clement, a businessman and cancer survivor, has beat the odds his entire life. As a child, he was struck by lightning four times in seven years, yet suffered no ill effects. Mr. Clement went on to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and completed the challenging academic program with a 3.8 grade point average.
Immediately after his graduation in 1969, John Kuttler Clement took a position with Sanders Associates, a defense contractor in Nashua, New Hampshire. He obtained Top Secret security clearance and contributed to the design of anti-submarine warfare devices, a pressing concern in the middle of the Cold War. Mr. Clement spent two years working at Sanders before leaving for the business world.
In 1978, he began a career in auto sales. As the owner and General Manager of Queen City Toyota in Manchester, New Hampshire, he helped build the brand that would one day become a household name in North America. Mr. Clement also assisted John H. Sununu in his successful 1982 gubernatorial campaign.
After four years, John Kuttler Clement purchased a larger dealership in Saco, Maine. As owner of Prime Auto, he sold 120 Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, and Plymouth vehicles every month. In 1988, he moved on from the auto dealership to embark on other business ventures and remains active in a variety of endeavors today.
After years of dealing with profits and losses, Mr. Clement recently faced a challenge of a completely different nature: battling Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), an aggressive and extremely malignant form of brain cancer. GBM is the same cancer that killed Senator Ted Kennedy, and the prognosis for people who suffer from it is extremely poor. However, Mr. Clement underwent radiation treatments and chemotherapy twice a week and is currently in full remission. He resides in Encinitas, California, and enjoys playing golf and boating in his free time.
