Marketing Professor John Buckingham joined Pepperdine University first as an Adjunct Professor. Mr. Buckingham has led seven companies and their marketing efforts over the course of his 30-year career, which includes delivering addresses at conferences, teaching marketing, and serving at high-level positions of companies. His most commonly taught subjects include marketing strategy, marketing communications, international marketing, the technology of marketing, and the core marketing management course. John Buckingham spoke in 2008 at the Medical Aesthetics Conference & Exposition, delivering the keynote address “The Evolution & Revolution of the Medical Aesthetics Industry.” John Buckingham was awarded the Significant Sig Award by the Sigma Chi fraternity that same year for his accomplishments.
The companies John Buckingham has served, both private and public, include Intoximeters, Inc., based in St. Louis, Missouri, and West Chemical Products, Inc., based in Princeton, New Jersey. West Chemical specializes in environmentally friendly cleaning products, while Intoximeters develops and distributes breath alcohol testing devices. John Buckingham, a 20-year veteran of the Young Presidents Organization, holds membership in the Academy of Business Leadership, which trains future entrepreneurial leaders. In his leisure time, Mr. Buckingham enjoys spending time at the gym.
Two of John Buckingham's most significant business moves were founding MedResults, a group purchasing organization of medical products, in 2008 and Solana MedSpas, Inc., a medical spa chain offering noninvasive aesthetic products and services, in 2004. Mr. Buckingham sold Solana MedSpas in 2007 to a private equity firm but remains with the company in a managerial role. While Solana MedSpas works on a revised-franchise model, the distinctive John Buckingham brand remains.
