Jlloyd Samuel, is a football player, who was born on March 29, 1981 in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. He is nicknamed “Walter” after the famous Internazionale defender, Walter Samuel. Jlloyd Samuel went to St Joseph’s Academy in Blackheath, London and is married to Emma Pritchard.
His improved performance during the 2003-2004 season, gave Jlloyd Samuel the chance to play for England against Sweden. He also represented England’s Under-21 team in seven matches.
Jlloyd Samuel honed his football skills at the Sunday league for Senrab FC and later for the youth clubs of West Ham United and Charlton Athletic. He signed a professional contract with Aston Villa and got his first chance to play for it on September 21, 1999, in the second-leg League cup match against Chester City FC, where Aston Villa had a comfortable victory (5-0) over their opponents. Jlloyd Samuel was also a part of the Aston Villa team that won the Intertoto Cup in 2000-2001. From October 25, to December 3, 2001, Jlloyd Samuel represented Gillingham FC, as a loaned player, in eight matches.
His best performances in the Premier league matches came during the 2003-2004 season, and show-cased his abilities as a brilliant defender in the left-back position. During this season Aston Villa also qualified to the Semi-finals of the League Cup. In his 169 appearances for Aston Villa, this impressive defender has also scored two goals.
After having spent almost a decade in Aston Villa, Jlloyd Samuel moved to Bolton Wanderers by signing a four-year contract on July 1, 2007.
If he had not become a football player, Jlloyd Samuel would have become a fashion designer or a dancer as he loves to design clothes and dance in his spare time. Collecting aftershaves is also one of his hobbies; he owns 30 to 40 aftershaves among which, Sander for Men is his favorite.
The autobiography on his favorite player, John Barnes, former England and Liverpool player, is his favorite book and “Pro Evolution Soccer” is his favorite play station game.
When it comes to food, the West Indian dish, curry goat with rice is his favorite meal.
