About Jim Marzilli



Noted for his contributions to public policy in his home state of Massachusetts, J. James Marzilli, Jr. has played an active role for NGOs and governmental organizations on a nationwide basis. During his 14 years as a member of the Board at the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center, J. James Marzilli, Jr. initiated a variety of efforts to affect positive change in economic, tax, and state budget policy. At the same time, J. James Marzilli, Jr. served as Co-Chair of the Energy and Environment Committee for the Eastern Regional Conference of the Council of State Governments, in which he provided organizational leadership for 12 states and four Canadian provinces. In addition, J. James Marzilli, Jr. sat on the Advisory Board for the California Health Benefits Review Program from 2007 through 2008, where he reviewed legislative plans for health care financing. Highly concerned with environmental protection and issues of climate change, J. James Marzilli, Jr. has participated in such international conferences as the G8 + 5 Climate Change Dialogue, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the U.S. State Department’s Germany speaking tour. Over the course of his career as an elected official, J. James Marzilli, Jr. traveled to countries across the globe, for both professional and personal reasons, with visits to Central and South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Elected 10 times to the Massachusetts state legislature, J. James Marzilli, Jr. served as the Representative from the 23rd Middlesex district and Senator from the 4th Middlesex district.
